Elderly sex offender sentenced to prison

An elderly man who previously admitted to having sex with underage girls and supplying them with drugs was sentenced Monday to two years in prison by Logan County Common Pleas Court Judge Mark S. O’Connor.

Jack Parker, 74, of 1304 Paul St., will serve consecutive two-year sentences for two counts each of unlawful sexual contact with a minor and corrupting another with drugs. He is also labeled a Tier II sexual offender.
Mr. Parker pleaded guilty July 16 to engaging two 16-year-old girls in multiple sex acts and providing them with marijuana for a period between fall 2010 and early 2011.
“Mr. Parker has made no effort from the beginning to duck or dodge responsibility in this case,” defense attorney Marc S. Triplett said, arguing for community control. “This offense is Mr. Parker’s first criminal charge.
“He is not a predatory person and this case did not come about as a result of Mr. Parker preying on children.”
Mr. Triplett went on to say that one of the victim’s mother was aware of and encouraged what was going on.
