ABOVE: Colleagues, community members and family surprised recently retired Bellefontaine City Schools Superintendent Beth Harman this morning with a reception at Bellefontaine Middle School, where she was crowned the “Queen of Education,” complete with a sash and crown.
Jim Stein, right, retired teacher, and several other current and former staff spoke about Mrs. Harman’s 36-year career with BCS that concluded with her retirement July 31.
Some of her other positions included serving as a teacher at Southeastern Elementary School and Pine Avenue Elementary, principal at Northeastern Elementary and the district’s executive director of instructional services.
As a take-home gift, Mrs. Harman was presented with an apple tree to honor her dedication to teaching and education.
RIGHT: A sign designating the roadway connecting Bellefontaine Middle School to the main school drive as “Beth Harman Boulevard” was unveiled this morning following a retirement reception for Mrs. Harman.
During her tenure as superintendent, the current Bellefontaine Middle School and Bellefontaine Elementary School each was constructed along Ludlow Road through a $35.93 million Ohio School Facilities Commission project.
