Siblings Ella, Luke Jackson log dairy titles

Kyle McGuire also rises to the top

Ella Jackson and her younger brother, Luke, spent many cold days this winter caring for their dairy cows, readying them to show.

That hard work paid off Friday in the form of recognition during the junior fair dairy show at the fair arena.

Ella, 17, showed the champion female Holstein cow, “Shyler.”

Luke, 10, showed the junior champion Brown Swiss. and also claimed first place in junior showmanship, while Ella was reserve champion in senior showmanship. The siblings are members of the Riverside Hustlers 4-H club.

Kyle McGuire, 16, of West Liberty also was a multiple winner. He placed first in senior showmanship. He also showed the junior champion Jersey and Brown Swiss, and showed the junior and reserve junior champions in the Holstein show.

“Even though she’s the only one in this show, this heifer could stand a lot of competition,” remarked judge Danielle Brown during the show.

Ms. Brown is from Wisconsin originally. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a bachelor of agricultural science degree in dairy science and life science communications.

She currently works as a sales and marketing communications specialist in Plain City.
