Teen charged with OVI following crash investigation

Dakota Murphy, 17, of 501 Gunntown Road, Lot 89, Bellefontaine, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs following the investigation of a previously reported injury crash that occurred June 18 on Township Road 43.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report he was operating an eastbound vehicle about 3 a.m. near State Route 235 when he failed to negotiate a curve and traveled off the left side of the road, through a fence and struck a pile of dirt. The vehicle became airborne and struck a tree before landing and coming to rest on its top.

The driver was transported by MedFlight helicopter to the OSU Wexner Medical Center. He also has been cited for failure to control, driving without an operator’s license and received a seat belt violation.

Two passengers in the vehicle, Joshua Brenner, 22, of 778 N. Township Road 31, Bellefontaine, and Amber Love, 15, of 921 Euclid St., Bellefontaine, were transported by squad to Mary Rutan Hospital. Mr. Brenner has been issued a seat belt violation, and Amber has been issued a summons for underage consumption.
