SIDNEY — A 9-year-old child and an adult were flown by CareFlight helicopter to area hospitals for treatment of injuries sustained in a crash about 4:10 p.m. Wednesday in Shelby County.
Deputies of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office report Leslie Gough, 44, of Houston, was operating a westbound car on Houston Road at Patterson Halpin Road when he drove off the right side of the road and started sliding in the ditch. He then struck a large rock, causing the vehicle to overturn and re-enter the road. The car then slid off the left side of the road and down an embankment, striking a tree.
Mr. Gough was transported by Houston squad to Wilson Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released. His passengers, Andrew Gough, 19, of East Liverpool, and the 9-year-old boy were transported by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital and Dayton Children’s Hospital, respectively.
The driver stated he had swerved to avoid hitting a vehicle that had pulled from the stop sign into his path, which caused the crash. Deputies continue to investigate.
