A Bellefontaine woman reported Friday she was a victim of a work-from-home scam in which she was to handle customer payments for a sculptor who travels extensively. She received a check on May 22 and was told to deposit it in her account, keep $550 for her pay and expenses and forward $1,300 to the male’s account.
The check she deposited did not clear, according to reports filed with officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department.
• A Bellefontaine man reported he spent more than $4,900 trying to acquire a $2,000 loan online through www.cashadvance.com. He was promised the money he spent a couple months ago would be returned with the loan.
