Logan County Board of Elections considered in a regular meeting today changing the location where voters in Harrison Township cast their ballots. The discussion was necessary because of inadequate handicap accessibility in the existing location at the Logan County Engineer’s Office, 1991 County Road 13.
But, ultimately, the board determined the best thing for voter stability and turnout would be to leave the polling place for Harrison Township voters where it is, and work with the engineer’s office to perform necessary upgrades.
A review of the engineer’s office handicap accessibility turned up several infractions of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the office was told in a February e-mail from the state ADA coordinator Brett Harbage.
Necessary improvements are focused generally around the parking lot and entrance to the building, and would cost about $4,000 to fix, according to estimates from the engineer’s office.
