Local family gets military assignment in Japan

A local couple’s longtime dream of moving to Japan is being made real after the husband got orders that he will be stationed on an air base there.


U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Carl Carlson and his wife Megan and their children, Dashel, 1, Leeloo, 6, left, and  Rikku, 7, will leave for a permanent change of station to Yokota Air Force Base in Fusa, Japan.

U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Carl Carlson, a 2004 Jackson Center graduate, and his wife Megan, a 2006 Indian Lake High School graduate, will leave this week for the overseas assignment.

The family will be stationed on the Yokota Air Force Base in Fusa, Japan, just outside of Tokyo.

“I love the idea,” Staff Sgt. Carlson said. “I’ve always wanted to go to Japan since I was young.”
