When Craig Jennings left Ohio 27 years ago, he never expected he would have 5,000 performances with an internationally-acclaimed circus troupe under his belt by age 50.

But that has proved to be the case for the 1982 Benjamin Logan High School graduate who is making a rare stop in Ohio this week as part of the Cirque du Soleil performance of Varekai at Youngstown State University’s Covelli Centre.
“I got a bachelor’s degree (from Ohio State) and I got on a plane to New York,” Mr. Jennings, who turns 50 in March, said in a telephone interview Monday. “I didn’t have any plan and it was random and scary.”
