Election board certifies petitions

During a regular meeting Monday of the Logan County Board of Elections, all but one petition for the March primary election were certified, as were all annual campaign finance reports received.

The petition for a local liquor option, submitted by V.E. Beard doing business as Huntsville Ameristop, was denied for an insufficient number of signatures and will not appear on the ballot.

An unannounced state spot check for Americans with Disabilities Act compliance at the Logan County Engineer’s Office, the polling location for Harrison Township voters, found the following issues to be corrected:

• handicap van accessibility;

• steep curb ramp;

• level parking space and

• wall space next to door handle.

The board also reviewed state requirements for petition filings and procedures with staff.

The local office was chosen to host ADA district training March 11.

A reorganizational meeting was set for 8:30 a.m. March 6 and the next regular meeting is April 17.
