Five issues, liquor option on May ballot

Two school districts, a village police department and two township fire departments are asking taxpayers to support tax levies on May 6, while a Huntsville business is asking for the right to sell alcohol on Sunday.

The tax issues and liquor option were submitted to the Logan County Board of Elections by Wednesday’s filing deadline, but have not yet been formally certified.

Indian Lake School District officials are asking voters to approve a five-year, 7.2-mill levy request that would generate about $2.9 million a year for operating expenses. It is a renewal of an existing levy with an increase of $821,000 per year.

West Liberty-Salem is seeking approval of a five-year extension to an existing 1.5-mill levy that generates $155,000 for capital improvements and maintenance.
