Man arrested for child endangering

David E. Evilsizor, 57, of Urbana, was charged with child endangering and domestic violence Friday after deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to Indian Lake Middle School on a child abuse complaint.

A school nurse had observed bruising on a student’s arm, and alerted authorities about 2:30 p.m.

The child said his father, Mr. Evilsizor, had grabbed him by the arm while he was jumping on a bed at a Lakeview residence.

The defendant was questioned about the incident and was placed under arrest. Officers of the Washington Township Police Department also assisted with the arrest. He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.

OVI charges filed

John Payer, 27, of 184 S. Main St., Ridgeway, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and received a marked lanes violation after a traffic stop early Tuesday morning.

Deputies observed a vehicle driving about 30 mph in the 5000 block of State Route 47 about 12:45 a.m. The vehicle also repeatedly crossed the edge lines of the road and then pulled into a driveway in the area.

Field sobriety tests were administered, and the defendant was transported to the Logan County Jail, where he tested a 0.176 blood alcohol content level.

Summons issued for theft

Emily Moore, 34, of 11181 Shawnee Path, Lakeview, received a summons for misdemeanor theft Tuesday.

Deputies received a report from Eloise Dawson, 145 Place St., Lakeview, who said her son observed their babysitter, Ms. Moore, take money from a dresser at the residence. Ms. Dawson said a total of about $170 was missing.

Ms. Moore admitted to taking the money.

Winter weather crashes reported

Zachary Zachman, 24, of Lewistown, was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead following a crash about 3:10 p.m. Saturday on County Road 91 just west of County Road 130.

He reportedly was operating a westbound vehicle that struck the rear of another westbound vehicle operated by Samantha Morgan, 21, of Bellefontaine, that had slowed to turn into a driveway.

No injuries were reported.

• Boyd Adkins, 66, of Urbana, was cited for failure to yield following a two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon at State Route 508 and Township Road 187.

He reportedly was operating a northbound pickup on T.R. 187 when he stopped at the stop sign and then attempted to cross the intersection and struck the side of an eastbound minivan operated by Jerome Walker, 69, of Bellefontaine.

Mr. Walker reported possible injuries, but was not transported from the scene. Mr. Adkins did not report any injuries.
