The Bellefontaine and Russells Point police departments have received multiple complaints regarding a telephone credit card scam.
Suspects are calling individuals and telling them their credit card has been suspended for various reasons. They often have 4 digits from a credit card or request digits from the credit card holder.
Authorities have also received notification from banks in the area regarding the same type of fraud.
Law enforcement is advising residents to be careful anytime an unknown number calls and requests any credit information; this is not a common practice for legitimate financial institutions. If you are unsure, hang up and call your bank directly.
