Girl celebrates 8th birthday by giving back

Instead of spending her birthday going to a movie or opening a multitude of presents, a local second-grader decided this year that she wanted to do something different and give back to those in need.
Calvary Christian School student Lainey Cronkleton celebrated her eighth birthday Friday by handing out food at the Second Harvest Food Bank’s Mobile Pantry stop in the city that served more than 300 families.
“I thought that there are people out there who are hungry, so I wanted to do something to help out,” she said while handing granola bars to many grateful recipients.
“I like seeing their smiles when we give them something good to eat.”
