MT. VICTORY — A Kenton woman was injured and transported to the Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus after striking a grain auger Tuesday evening.
Troopers of the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Findlay Post report Gary Brill, 51, of West Mansfield, was driving a John Deere tractor northbound on State Route 31 about 5:40 p.m. He was pulling a 70-foot grain auger when he was struck in the rear by a 2002 Ford Mustang driven by Angelina Gaudarrama, 32, of Kenton.
After striking the left wheel of the auger, the Mustang drove off the west side of the roadway and struck a utility pole.
Gaudarrama was transported by MedFlight to the OSU Medical Center. Her condition was not available Wednesday morning. Brill was not injured.
The patrol was assisted at the scene by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, Southeast Hardin Northwest Union Fire District, Southeast Hardin EMS, MedFlight and Lowery Towing.
The crash remains under investigation, but lack of proper lighting on the farm tractor and auger was a factor in the crash, troopers said.
