WOODSTOCK — A Woodstock woman killed her husband and then herself Saturday evening in an apparent murder-suicide.
Union County emergency dispatchers transferred a 911 call about 7 p.m. by Helen Meeks, 53, to the Champaign County 911 Call Center. Mrs. Meeks advised dispatchers she had killed her husband.
Deputies of the Champaign County Sheriff's Office responded to the Meeks' 239 E. Bennett St., Woodstock, residence and, upon arrival, reported hearing a single gunshot from inside the home. Deputies then entered the residence and discovered the bodies of David Meeks, 46, and Mrs. Meeks.
Reports indicate the victims died of apparent gunshot wounds.
Deputies were assisted by officials of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification, Ohio Department of Natural Resources, North Lewisburg EMS and Champaign County Coroner Dr. Josh Richards.
Autopsies will be performed, and the incident remains under investigation.
