John R. Zimmerman, 41, of 1205 Miller St., DeGraff, was charged with domestic violence, drug abuse and possession of drug abuse instruments after an incident Thursday evening at his home.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the residence about 8:10 p.m. in reference to a woman reporting that her significant other was out of control and was threatening harm to her and himself.
When they arrived, they spoke with Roberta Dabe, 38, of that address, who said that Mr. Zimmerman had been acting violent all day.
She said she had locked herself in a bedroom and he kicked in the door. Then he reportedly had gone looking for a knife.
When questioned by deputies, the defendant admitted to using heroin that day. A capsule used for transporting heroin, and drug abuse instruments were recovered from the home.
He was transported to the Logan County.
Traffic incident leads to several citations
Several people were issued charges or citations after a traffic violation observed by a deputy on patrol in the area of County Road 130 and Township Road 218 about 4:50 p.m. Thursday.
The deputy observed a southbound vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and turned around to initiate a traffic stop. However, the vehicle was not located until a short time later, when it was found parked at Limestone Street and Garfield Avenue in the city.
Daniel Sprague, 24, of 816 Heritage Court, Apt. 11, was standing nearby the vehicle. At first, he denied any involvement in the incident, but later admitted that he had been a passenger in the vehicle.
He was charged with obstructing official business, and also was arrested on a Bellefontaine Police Department warrant and was transported to the Logan County Jail.
Deputies then went to the address of the registered owner of the vehicle, Calvin Board, 25, of 214 Pratt St., Apt. 9. When Mr. Board opened the door to the home, deputies observed a smell of burnt marijuana, and he was issued a summons for possession of marijuana.
The driver of the vehicle, Kaleigh Garrison, 19, of 54 Holiday Harbor, Russells Point, also was inside the residence, and she was issued citations for speed and reckless operation.
