Troopers report Nancy Hall, 73, of Hillsville, Va., was driving a westbound recreational vehicle in the right lane of U.S. 33 when the vehicle’s right, front tire blew out. The RV then went off the right side of the road and overturned, ejecting Ms. Hall through the windshield. The RV came to rest on its left side.

The driver, who was conscious and talking at the scene, was transported by MedFlight helicopter to Grant Medical Center in Columbus as a precaution because of her age and previous medical conditions. She was cited for not wearing a seat belt.

The driver’s husband and passenger, Norman Bird, 66, also of Hillsville, refused medical treatment at the scene.

Bellefontaine Fire and EMS and Bellefontaine Police assisted at the scene.

The 40-foot RV was towing a minivan, which contributed to the crash, troopers said. The driver did not receive additional citations because of the extenuating circumstances.

Damage to the vehicles was disabling. Crews were on the scene for several hours.
