Tracci Ritter, 27, of Bellefontaine, was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead after a two-car crash around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday on Garfield Avenue near Pratt Street.

Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report she was eastbound behind a car operated by Lisa Hughes, 45, of Russells Point, when a motorist ahead of Ms. Hughes abruptly braked and turned off of Garfield to avoid a train traveling on crossing tracks.

Ms. Hughes and Ms. Ritter both swerved left in an effort to avoid a collision. Unfortunately their cars collided. Damage was moderate.
