City signs contracts to start bicycle path work

Work on the bicycle path from north of Urbana to Bellefontaine soon will get under way now that the Champaign County Commissioners have signed leases for an abandoned rail bed owned by the Central Ohio Port Authority.

Bellefontaine Mayor Adam Brannon reported during Tuesday’s City Council meeting that the city had signed contracts for concrete deck work on two bridges in Champaign County.

Logan County Commissioners are ready to sign their portion of the leases as soon as Logan County Prosecutor William T. Goslee gives them a written option saying it is OK.

“We’re going to sign it,” Commissioner Dustin Wickersham told representatives of the Simon Kenton Pathfinders on Tuesday. “We’re just waiting on Bill’s opinion.”
