CHAMPAIGN COUNTY — Deputies of the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash about 7 p.m. Friday in the area of north State Route 560 and River Road, where a vehicle struck a home and fled the scene.
The vehicle, operated by Wren J. McBrien, 22, of Quincy, became disabled and was located on River Road, where McBrien fled the scene on foot, leaving a child passenger behind. The child was checked at the scene by medics, but was not injured.
The driver was apprehended and transported to Mercy Memorial Hospital in Urbana, where he was treated for minor injuries.
McBrien was cited for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, then transported to Tri-County Regional Jail.
Johnson Township and West Liberty Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.
Additionally, McBrien has been charged with assault, a fifth-degree felony, and misdemeanor offenses of child endangering, obstructing official business, and driving under suspension. He is scheduled to appear in Champaign County Municipal Court at 8 a.m. Monday.
The crash remains under investigation.
