Community leaders and state and federal officials gathered Friday at the Indian Lake State Park Campground for the Indian Lake Development Corporation’s annual D.R.E.D.G.E. Day Picnic. The ILDC, “a group of citizens concerned for the future well being and growth of the Indian Lake area,” started the informal Day of Recreation, Entertainment, Discussion, Good food and Exchange of ideas event 30 years ago to bring local, state and federal legislators into the region to shed light on the needs and issues facing the resort area and gain support for improvement programs. Among the topics Friday were the new dredge expected to be delivered in 2014 and the Sandy Beach Bridge project to restore the icon spanning the Russells Point harbor. (EXAMINER PHOTO | SUE PITTS)
