The Logan County Board of Developmental Disabilities adopted a new policy titled, “Community First” at their Thursday evening meeting.
The purpose of this policy is to ensure that the individuals served by the LCBDD are encouraged to discover their own abilities and have opportunities to be fully engaged in the community.
Community engagement, including employment, is a priority and the preferred outcome for those served.
“This is an important change to our agency’s every day practices in our community,” Superintendent Saul Bauer said. “The community first policy directs us onto a fresh path of integration and inclusion.
“From this day forward our purpose and our function will shift. This policy will affect our future decisions. Our programming, our purpose, and our planning will be redirected with a new focus — a new heart — of integration and inclusion.”
