Shoplifter lodged in jail

Paul E. Hedrick, 44, of 1600 S. Detroit St., Apt. 39, was charged around 7 p.m. Wednesday with theft and public intoxication after he walked out of Kroger, 2129 S. Main St., with two packaged steaks, a bottle of vodka and a bottle of wine.

He was stopped walking back to his apartment.

Officers report he appeared to be intoxicated.

He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.

• Preston K. Richmond, 23, of 533 Washington Ave., was arrested around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday for violating a protection order.

He is a parent along with Lauren George of a one-year-old child. He allegedly threatened her and followed her after she retrieved the child from the suspect’s residence.

He was lodged in jail.

Driver cited in Tuesday crash

Joan L. Maxwell, 62, of Russells Point, was cited for passing on the right after a two-vehicle crash around 9:50 a.m. Tuesday on Main Street at Watson Way.

Reid L. Butler, 18, of Bellefontaine, was northbound in a car waiting to turn left. He changed his mind and turned right as Ms. Maxwell was attempting to pass.

Damage was moderate to the car and light to the Maxwell sport utility vehicle.
