Farm Bureau, SWCD highlight programs, cooperator at annual meetings

The Logan Soil and Water Conservation District marked its 70th anniversary and announced the recipient of its cooperator of the year award during its annual meeting Thursday night in conjunction with the Logan County Farm Bureau’s annual meeting at Winner’s Harvest Barn.

Continuing the district’s annual tradition that began in 1962, Lisa Bambauer, 11732 County Road 70, Quincy, was recognized for conservation practices with her grain operation that includes participation in the Natural Conservation Resource Conservation Service’s Conservation Stewardship Program incorporating conservation rotation and no till, wildlife habitat, nutrient and pest management and buffer strip practices into her farm plan. She was selected for “her good conservation practices, her commitment to soil stewardship, for being a pioneer for women in agriculture and for her good heart,” presenter Renee Winner read.
