Resident drives off intruder

Phillip Francis, 413 Clagg St., told officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department he confronted a tall black male suspect in his garage around 12:40 a.m. today.

He was investigating a noise he heard coming from the garage and was surprised to find the intruder hiding.

Mr. Francis was struck in the hand and he shoved the suspect into shelves. The suspect fled the area.

Mr. Francis declined treatment for his bleeding hand.

Russell L. Lusby, 58, at large, was arrested at 5:30 a.m. today for criminal trespassing and persistent disorderly conduct.

Officers found him sleeping inside a condemned apartment complex at 130 W. Sandusky Ave. It was the second time he was found living inside the vacant building.

He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.

• Stephanie K. McClain, 28, of 214 Pratt St., Apt. 6, was served Thursday with a warrant for failure to appear.

Driver cited in Tuesday crash

Tina A. Andrews, 48, of Zanesfield, was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead in a three-vehicle crash around 1:35 p.m. Tuesday, a photograph of which appeared in Wednesday’s Examiner.

A passenger in a car, Terry L. Bothel, 72, of Bellefontaine, was taken from the crash site on Main Street at Carter Avenue by a Bellefontaine squad to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of injuries.

Ms. Andrews’ sport utility vehicle sustained heavy damage after it struck the rear of an SUV operated by Sandra K. Goings, 48, of Bellefontaine. The Goings vehicle was knocked forward into a car operated by Karen K. Bothel, 65, of Bellefontaine. Damage was moderate to the Goings and Bothel vehicles.
