Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office reported about 2 p.m. Wednesday that Summer Boitnott, 17, who reportedly ran away from her grandmother’s home in Champaign County, has been located.
Her father, Wayne Turner, 13411 Eagle Path, Lakeview, reported Monday evening that Summer was refusing to come home from her grandmother’s residence. Mr. Turner has temporary custody of his daughter.
Deputies spoke with Summer on the phone, and she refused to come home even if a warrant was issued for her arrest.
Deputies later received information from the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office that the teen had run away from her grandmother’s residence.
Wednesday, Summer returned to her grandmother's home, and was taken into custody by Champaign County deputies. She was then turned over to local deputies and was booked into the Logan County Juvenile Detention Center on persistent disorderly conduct charges.
ILMS student charged with inducing panic
Washington Township Police began an investigation Monday into a report of an Indian Lake Middle School student claiming to have a gun in his book bag while on the school bus headed to his rural Lakeview home.
Students who heard the boy’s claim told parents, who in turn called police.
Officers examined the bag at the boy’s home and school officials searched it Tuesday morning and found nothing.
The youth was charged Tuesday with inducing panic and was lodged in the Logan County Juvenile Detention Center.
Washington Township officers maintain a presence at each district building every day, Chief Rick Core said.
