Vicki Slotten, water clerk for the village of Lakeview for 27 years, recently announced her retirement.
Lakeview Village Council members accepted her retirement resignation with regret and extended her best wishes.
Marcella Barhorst was hired to fill the position at a rate of $10 per hour during training.
An ordinance was passed on an emergency basis in order to make the deadline for appearing on the November ballot. The village seeks to raise the current 1 percent income tax levy to 1.5 percent beginning in 2014. The levy funds are used for public safety purposes, police and fire, village officials report.
