An early hint that a new school year isn’t far off, annual school bus inspections are under way and one local fleet was the subject of review Tuesday by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
A regional outfit of OHP’s motor vehicle inspection division was at Indian Lake schools for its annual bus inspection.
The three-man team is led by trooper Frank Chismar, a 27-year veteran of the patrol. That particular group is responsible for inspecting more than 1,200 buses at 68 schools over an eight-county region. In all, members of the Motor Vehicle Inspection Unit inspect more than 23,000 Ohio school buses each year.
