Seth M. Noe, 15, of 648 Cooper Ave., Bellefontaine, was issued a summons Monday for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle following the investigation into the theft of a car from a city residence, deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department received a stolen vehicle report about 11:45 p.m. June 29 from Anthony Hamilton of west Brown Avenue.
A short time later, a complaint of three suspicious people in the area of Garfield Avenue led officers to continue their investigation in that area. The stolen 1999 Ford Taurus was found at the scene of a crash located just north of the city corporation limit on County Road 130.
Deputies were called in to further investigate the incident. The driver of the vehicle reportedly was driving southbound and then drove off the right side of the road and struck a ditch and a tree. The car sustained heavy damage.
Officers and deputies talked with witnesses in the area and identified several suspects.
Following the investigation, Seth was issued the summons this week, along with citations for driving without an operator’s license, failure to control and leaving the scene of a crash.
