An armed suspect made off with an undisclosed amount of cash during a 1:10 a.m. armed robbery today of the Village Pantry, 200 E. Sandusky Ave.

Witnesses told officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department a thin, white male wearing dark pants, a flannel shirt, black hat, sunglasses and a white bandana came into the business and pointed a handgun at a clerk.

He demanded money from the register and then fled south from the business to the Huntington National Bank parking lot along Madriver Street.

A witness watched him enter an older, large boxy, dark-colored car which drove across Madriver west to Main Street in an alley.

The car eluded officers, even though three were in the area in less than a minute of the 911 call.

No one was injured in the robbery, officers reported.

Anyone with information regarding the robbery is asked to call police at 599-1010 or 599-TIPS (8477).
