Ridgemont Board of Education members approved at a recent meeting a negotiated one-year agreement with the Ridgemont Education Association, which includes a freeze in salary steps and a 2 percent salary increase.
The plan was proposed to cover the 1 percent increase the State Teachers Retirement System will take from each certified employee.
Treasurer Fred Reinemeyer did not want to see staff take pay cuts this year, so he proposed this measure. In addition, the cost of a 2 percent increase in insurance premiums will be covered by the district.
Members also voted to extend these same considerations to classified staff.
Superintendent Emmy Davis noted throughout the negotiations, individuals on both sides of the table were honorable and professional.
