MARYSVILLE — A West Mansfield man is now facing a possibility of life in prison without parole after a jury convicted him of raping a child.
Following a two-day trial this week, it took the jury about three hours to convict Victor L. Speicher, 57, of 24928 Storms Road, West Mansfield, of one count each of rape and gross sexual imposition.
The four-year-old child’s testimony was key to the conviction, prosecutors said.
A conviction in the rape of a child under 10 carries a mandatory life sentence, with or without parole. The prosecution will ask the judge in the case for life without parole, with an additional five consecutive years for the gross sexual imposition conviction.
A presentence investigation has been ordered.
