West Liberty-Salem Board of Education at a regular meeting Tuesday approved the ballot language for its bond question, the fate of which voters will determine in August.
The bond issue affects voters in Logan and Champaign counties. It asks voters to OK a 27-year, 3.62 mills property tax and a 23-year, .25 percent income tax to help fund a renovation of the K-12 campus.
Treasurer Steve Godwin must certify a copy of the resolution to the Board of Elections on or before May 8.
A resignation for the purpose of retirement was accepted from Dan Gordon, band director, effective May 31. Mr. Gordon has worked at WL-Salem for 28 of his 33 years in education.
Board members also approved continuing contracts for Kristy Staten and Vanessa Orahood.
In other action, board members accepted/approved:
• supplemental contracts for Dennis McIntosh, varsity girls basketball; Brent Anderson, varsity wrestling; Dave Clem, middle school wrestling; Emily Hess, winter varsity cheerleading adviser; and Jenny Peterson, assistant varsity volleyball;
• shared staffing agreements for Brandi Roberts and Carrie Smith, high school science; and
• certified contract renewals for Joseph Taylor and Bethany Kauffman, one year; Tim Lamb and Sue Beikert, three year; and Sally Engle, five year.
The next regular school board meeting is May 21.
