A convenience store owner, who allegedly attacked a female customer who frequented his Lakeview area shop, was named in a three-count indictment handed up Tuesday by a Logan County grand jury.
Gurwinder Singh, 25, of 12500 N. State Route 235, Lakeview, was charged with first-degree felony counts of rape and kidnapping, and a fourth-degree felony count of disrupting public services.
On Feb. 25, he allegedly would not let the customer leave the Marathon Fueling Plaza, same address, and began sexually assaulting her. He reportedly knocked a cellular phone from the 24-year-old victim’s hands.
The case was investigated by the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is holding the defendant as it appears he is in the country illegally.
