Defendants sentenced to correctional facility

Five other defendants were sentenced and another pleaded guilty Monday in Common Pleas Court.

Adam Houchins, 22, of Lakeview was sentenced to the West Central Community Based Correctional Facility, five years’ community control and ordered to pay restitution, court costs and attorney fees for vandalism, tampering with coin machines, breaking and entering and safecracking. Mr. Houchins owes about $2,300 for vandalism caused to coin machines at Indian Lake-area car washes and laundromats.  

• Kyle Smith, 26, of Bellefontaine: sentenced to West Central Community Based Correctional Facility, five years’ community control and ordered to pay attorney fees and court costs for aggravated assault and a community control violation.

• Scott Boggs, 32, of Bellefontaine: sentenced to five years’ community control, a one-year driver’s license suspension and ordered to pay a $500 fine, attorney fees and court costs for receiving stolen property and offenses involving counterfeit controlled substances.

• Chad Minnich, 32, of Miamisburg: sentenced to five years’ community control and ordered to pay court costs and attorney fees for non-support of dependents.

• Kayla Newland, 23, of Lima: sentenced to five years’ community control and ordered to pay a $500 fine, court costs and attorney fees for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

• Lawrence Beair Jr., 26, of Bellefontaine, pleaded guilty to three counts of non-support of dependents. The defendant owes about $53,000 in back child support for four children. A presentence investigation was ordered and sentencing is scheduled for April 1.
