Mops clean up at state competition

Benjamin Logan Middle School Team Mops continued an award winning season over the weekend at the First Lego League Ohio State Championship, competing against 36 teams and earning the State Inspiration Award for extraordinary enthusiasm and spirit.

Mops also was part of an Alliance Team, the Vikings, that earned the second highest score in the Alliance Challenge. The Alliance Challenge allows the concepts of professionalism and cooperation to be put into direct practice. Teams teach other teams how to operate their robot and trust others to operate them in a competition setting while they run another team’s robot.

The local team also was named a Regional Ambassador Team.

Mops include Nathan Coffield, Chenhao Ma, Ray McCormick and Jada Orahood, and is coached by Amy McCormick and mentored by Chris Coffield.
