A Delaware, Ohio, man who ran from Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers after a Tuesday night crash along U.S. Route 33, was found dead Wednesday at the base of a cellular phone tower.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were called to the tower along State Route 292 in Jefferson Township around 9:40 a.m. after a Dayton Power & Light Co. employee found the body of Donald S. Flauto, 38.
Deputies and troopers of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol had been searching for Mr. Flauto since an 11:30 p.m. Tuesday crash along U.S. 33 near S.R. 292.
Troopers report that Mr. Flauto was operating a westbound car when he drove off the left side of the road through the median and then continued onto the eastbound lanes. He then drove off U.S. 33 and through a fence and came to rest in a cornfield.
The man ran from the crash site and evaded capture.
Delaware police officers had advised law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for the man after a domestic dispute Tuesday in their city.
Investigators believe the man climbed the tower and fell from it.
The Logan County Coroner’s Office and Tri-Valley squad responded to the scene Wednesday morning.
