Hi-Point students showcase landscaping skills

Professional Turf and Landscaping students at Ohio Hi-Point Career Center had a unique opportunity to be one of four career centers in Ohio chosen to compete in the first-ever Landscapers’ Challenge at the Central Environmental Nursery Trade Show.

A team of five students built a 400 square foot landscape in the middle of the CENTS 2013 floor at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in under six hours. Teams could select one of two plans to create and were judged on safety, industry standards and presentation.

The OHP team of Kaleb Gullet, Austin Neeley, Storm Holcomb, Daniel Trout and Hunter Pride placed third in the Landscapers’ Challenge, narrowly missing second place by two points, under the guidance of Chad Carpenter, All About Landscaping, and OHPCC instructor Cole Carpenter.
