russellspointpolice patch

Officer Jerrod Hostetler of the Russells Point Police Department was injured Wednesday evening during a traffic stop at 6:30 p.m. on U.S. Route 33 at Clermont Avenue during which a K-9 officer alerted on the vehicle.

Troopers from the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol were called in to investigate a vehicle versus pedestrian crash, where they determined Officer Hostetler was struck by the passenger side mirror of an older model tan four-door Honda Accord as he approached the stopped vehicle. Witnesses said the car fled the scene eastbound and continued south onto State Route 708 without stopping.

Officer Hostetler was treated and released at Mary Rutan Hospital for minor injuries to his left forearm.

Anyone with information on the suspect vehicle or driver should call the patrol dispatch center at (937) 644-8811.
