Slick roads lead to crashes

Andrew Cotterman, 30, of Pennsylvania, did not report injuries in a one-vehicle crash Wednesday morning in the 7700 block of State Route 274.

He reportedly lost control of his car on the ice-covered road at about 10:40 a.m., sliding off the right side of the road and striking a ditch and a concrete pillar.

Damage was moderate to this car. No citations were listed with the report.

• Robert L. March Jr., 47, of Lakeview, was cited for leaving the scene of a private property crash, driving under suspension and failure to control following a crash Tuesday at the North Lakeview Market, 13840 State Route 235, Lakeview.

He reportedly was operating a northbound vehicle that turned into the parking lot about 4:50 p.m. and lost control, striking a gas pump. Mr. March then left the scene.

The driver later told deputies he lost control after blacking out behind the wheel.

No injuries were reported.

• Joseph Engington, 30, of Columbus, was transported by an Indian Lake squad to Mary Rutan Hospital for minor injuries sustained in a crash at about 1:45 p.m. Dec. 21.

He reportedly was operating a westbound commercial truck on U.S. Route 33 just west of County Road 10 when he slowed in traffic and was struck from the rear by a westbound Jeep operated by Donald W. Shaffer, 47, of Maplewood.

Mr. Shaffer did not report any injuries. Damage was disabling to the truck and moderate to the jeep.

Mr. Shaffer was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead.

• Eric Everhart, 31, of Bellefontaine, was cited for failure to control after his vehicle reportedly struck a Bellefontaine Police Department sport utility vehicle at about 12:55 a.m. Friday.

He was attempting to make an eastbound turn from Detroit Street to Auburn Avenue in the city when he lost control and his pickup slid into the police vehicle that was stopped for a crash in the area.
