Michele Garver, director of Youth and Family Ministries at First United Methodist Church, 201 N. Main St., was the featured speaker Thursday at the weekly Bellefontaine Kiwanis club meeting.
Ms. Garver explained the importance of youth ministry within the church. She said that approximately half of all modern Christians accept Jesus before the age of 13 and the older a person gets, the less likely he/she is to become a Christian.
According to statistics shared by Ms. Garver, 66 percent of Christians are converted before their 18th birthday; and 75 percent before the age of 21. Only about 23 percent of Christians come to the faith after they turn 21, she said.
