Quincy Village Council members approved a law enforcement contract with the Logan County Sheriff’s Office during a recent regular meeting that cuts in half the number of hours per month deputies will spend patrolling the village.
Council considers the reduction in patrol hours among the first reductions in service as a result of the defeat of a November levy to fund the village’s operating expenses.
Quincy will pay $26.50 per hour for deputies to patrol the village 10 hours per month in 2013. This year, the sheriff’s office is charging $26 per patrol hour and the village has contracted for 20 hours per month to patrol the village.
