OVI charges filed after gas station incident

David L. Mowery, 60, of 9174 Breezy Way Drive, Lot 22, Belle Center, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs following an incident about 3:45 p.m. Saturday.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Huntsville Marathon gas station, 6990 State Route 117, in reference to a report of an intoxicated male subject in the parking lot who had been driving a box truck.

When they arrived at the scene, they located Mr. Mowery in the parking lot, and observed that he was unsteady on his feet. The defendant reportedly was carrying a case of beer, which he then placed in the truck.

An open container of beer also was located in his vehicle.

Deputies noted that his eyes were bloodshot and glassy. Mr. Mowery was administered field sobriety tests.

He was transported to the Logan County Jail, where he refused to take a blood alcohol content test.
