Burglary reported at grocery store

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a burglary at Fields Grocery, 139 S. Main St., West Mansfield, that reportedly occurred sometime overnight Sunday.

A newspaper delivery person contacted the Marysville Police Department about 4 a.m. Monday regarding a door that was found open at the business.

Deputies responded to the scene, and found that suspect(s) likely made entry to the business through the door and then through an area of the ceiling, as ceiling tiles had been disturbed. Parts from the ceiling vent also were found on the ground.

Suspect(s) stole approximately $420 in cash from an ATM machine. Pry marks also were observed on two cash registers at the business, but no cash was missing from those machines.

Cigarette cartons were stolen from an office area and also from a display case.

Video surveillance at the business reportedly captured footage of a white male suspect about 6 feet tall carrying a crow bar inside the store during that time frame.

Investigation continues.
