Tyler was taken by a MedFlight helicopter to Children’s Hospital in Columbus where he was treated for a fractured skull. Family members reported about 7 p.m. Monday there was no brain swelling or damage and the teen’s prognosis was good.
A sophomore at Indian Lake High School, he sustained no other broken bones and had cuts and bruises to his elbow and knees.
Tyler was among four runners and a track coach jogging along the roadway. Witnesses at the scene said three runners and the coach safely crossed C.R. 91 ahead of Tyler to the access road to Indian Lake schools.
Washington Township Police determined the incident was a result of the runner’s inattention and the driver of the car.
Indian Lake and Huntsville EMS, along with the Indian Joint Fire District, and Logan County Sheriff’s deputies assisted at the scene.
