Matthew H. Robinson, 41, of 1658 Township Road 55, Bellefontaine, was charged with driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and leaving the scene of a crash following an accident late Saturday evening.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a one-vehicle crash at 10:18 p.m. on County Road 2 just west of Township Road 132.
A witness reported that a car had driven off the roadway and struck a pole then left the scene. The witness followed the vehicle to a nearby residence.
Deputies arrived and located the crashed vehicle and the driver at 5642 C.R. 2. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Mr. Robinson, and he reportedly had parked his car at that address.
During the crash, deputies report Mr. Robinson was traveling westbound when he drove off the right side of the road, came back onto the roadway and then off the left side of the road and struck a pole.
He did not report any injuries, and his vehicle sustained heavy damage. Deputies recovered a variety of car parts at the scene of the crash.
Deputies noticed signs of intoxication and when requested, the defendant refused to perform sobriety tests.
