UPDATE: Driver OK after collision with semi

The driver of

Glen L. Strickler, 73, of Decatur, Ind., was hospitalized with only minor injuries after his car struck a semi tractor-trailer shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday on U.S. Route 33 at County Road 57.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report he was operating an eastbound vehicle that struck the rear of the eastbound semi operated by Allen J. Hesse, 51, of Mendon, that had slowed to make a right turn onto C.R. 57.

 

Mr. Strickler was out of his vehicle and walking around when squads arrived, first responders report. The semi truck driver was not injured.

 

The driver of the car was transported by Bellefontaine squad to Mary Rutan Hospital, where he was treated for cuts to his hand and head.

 

Troopers from the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol and Huntsville Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.

 

The crash closed the intersection for well over an hour.

 

Mr. Strickler was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead. Damage was disabling to his car and moderate to the semi.

Bellefontaine Fire and EMS transported the man to Mary Rutan Hospital where he was treated for cuts to his hand and head.

He was eastbound on U.S. 33 when he struck the rear of a semi turning right onto C.R. 57. He was out of his vehicle and walking around when squads arrived, first responders report. The semi truck driver was not injured.

Logan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating. Troopers from the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol and Huntsville Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.

The crash closed the intersection for well over an hour.
