U.S. Army Spc. Jerrod Hostetler was sworn into service for the Russells Point Police Department during a regular village council meeting this week.
Officer Hostetler’s full-time position was made possible via the $111,513 Vets to Cops grant that helps provide employment opportunities to veterans. He reports for duty Oct. 27.
In other matters, council reviewed and approved an estimate of $4,000 to $5,000 from Kohli & Kaliher Associates Inc. for preparing a boundary survey and deed description for the 52.3-acre parcel donated by the Rudolph Family for the Indian Lake/Great Miami River Open Space project. The expenditure goes toward the 25-percent match required by the $500,000 Clean Ohio Fund Grant received for the project, a 1.2-mile trail through wetlands and prairies between the Great Miami River at the village’s eastern edge and Lincoln Blvd.
