Mr. and Mrs. John W. Howell

Mr. and Mrs. John W. Howell of Bellefontaine recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary and Mr. Howell’s 80th birthday with a family cookout July 24.

Mr. Howell and the former Lois M. Anker were married April 8, 1950, in Cambridge, Ohio. He turned 80 July 18.

He retired from the U.S. Air Force and DAB Industries and she from DePuy Reed Associates.

They are the parents of John David (Nancy) Howell of Cambridge, Soozie (Justin) Keller of Bellefontaine and Trisha Burton of Dublin. They have 10 grandchildren, one deceased, and seven great-grandchildren.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Gamble

Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Gamble, 10647 W. State Route 47, DeGraff, will celebrate their 30th anniversary with a fall trip to Roatan, Honduras.

Mr. Gamble and the former Diana Jackson were married July 19, 1980, in Gretna Brethren Church by Leroy Solomon.

He is the manager of the OSU Farm Science Review. She is a Logan County Board of Elections director.

They are the parents of Rebecca (Kyle Lentz) Gamble of Bellefontaine and Emily (Jerrod) Henry of West Liberty. Two grandchildren, Peyton and Brooke Henry, complete their family.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Notestine Jr.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Notestine Jr. of Bellefontaine will celebrate 60 years of marriage with an open house reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, at First Christian Church. The omission of gifts is requested.

“Big Bob” married the former Dorothy A. Moore on Aug. 6, 1950, at First Christian Church, with the Rev. Keith McNeill officiating.

Mr. Notestine has had a busy professional career working in his father’s businesses, managing Sherwin Williams, owning rentals, operating restaurants and serving as the president of Bellefontaine City Council and as mayor before retiring from Factory Direct Sales.

Dorothy oversaw the raising of three active boys and assisted in the Bob N restaurant prior to serving as a personal banker for Huntington National Bank for more than 22 years.

The boys have all survived and include Robert III, who with his wife, Melissa, and children Trent and Wesley, live in Nashville, Tenn.; Tim and Kitty, who live in Bellefontaine with sons Dak and Dylan; and Mark and Peggy, who live in Worthington with their children, Aaron and Anna.

Bob and Dorothy remain active in service clubs and church and have never met a stranger.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Raymond K. Stokes

Mr. and Mrs. Raymond K. Stokes of West Mansfield will celebrate 60 years of marriage with an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, at 3204 County Road 29, Bellefontaine.

Mr. Stokes and the former Esther L. Williams were united in marriage July 13, 1950, in Paris, Ky.

He is retired and she is homemaker.

They are the parents of Linda D. Hyslip of Kalispell, Mont., and Sharon E. Acosta of Bellefontaine. Six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren complete their family.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Larry Hoverman

Mr. and Mrs. Larry Hoverman will mark 50 years of marriage with an open house celebration from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, July 24, at the Indian Lake Eagles Lodge.

Mr. Hoverman and the former Mary Lou Hower were united in marriage on July 15, 1960, by the Rev. Ronald Foulk in Lakeview.

He is retired from Procter and Gamble and she is a homemaker.

They are the parents of Peggy (Mark) Lawson of Quincy, Terri (Tom) Hershberger of Lakeview and Ginger (Jeff) Beard of Waynesfield. Six grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren and one great-grandchild complete their family.
